NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers under the second proviso to sub-section (1) of Section 35 of the Karnataka Value Added Tax Act, 2003 (Karnataka Act 32 of 2004) read with the first proviso to clause (a) of sub-rule (I) of Rule 50 of the Karnataka Value Added Tax Rules, 2005, it is hereby notified with effect from the 2nd day of November, 2011 that every dealer registered under the said Act paying an amount of one lakh rupees or more as tax or any other amount due under the said Act or Rules shall pay such amount by electronic remittance through internet in the following manner.-
i. A dealer required to make payment by electronic remittance shall open the website hups://vat.kar.nic.in/epay or may click on the link "e-Payment (All ACTs)” provided in website http://ctax.kar.nic.in. The website is an open website, no user authentication is required.
ii. Select tax category as KVAT (Karnataka Value Added Tax) from the list of nine categories of tax as displayed on the home page.
iii. Enter the TIN. The TIN is validated by the system and details such as Trade Name, address and office of the dealer where he/she is registered are automatically displayed.
iv. Enter other details like Tax Period, Tax or any other Amount, Interest, Penalty, etc. in the respective boxes provided therein.
v. Select one of the banks enabled for e-Payment in which the dealer has an account with net banking facility from a drop down list and click on “ NEXT”
vi. Verify the entered details displayed by the system and after confirming the details entered, click submit button. The system saves these details and a unique number called the CTD Reference Number is generated and displayed. This number shall be noted down for future use.
vii. The system then passes the payment information entered, to the selected bank’s web-site and opens the bank website.
viii. The login page of the bank website will be opened and it shall be authenticated “by” the dealer, entering his credentials, usefname and password, as provided by the bank.
ix. The bank site now displays the Tax Category, TIN, CTD Reference Number and Amount. There is no provision to alter the payment details at this stage.
x. After the dealer clicks on “confirm the payment”, the transaction will be carried out in Core Banking System.
xi. After completion of payment process, the bank’s web-site link will be transferred to the CTD website. The website, h ttps://vat.kar.nic.in/epay will show the details of successful payment including Bank Reference Number.
xii. A print out of the challan can be obtained by clicking on “Print Challan”.
